  • To deal with feedback and criticism in different cultures

  • Introduction to scholarly publishing
  • How to select a target journal
  • The peer review system: submitting, revising, and resubmitting
  • Skills needed to master the peer review process
  • How to effectively communicate with editors and reviewers
  • Criteria checked by editors and reviewers for journal articles grant proposals
  • Giving and receiving feedback and criticism in Germany and across other cultures
  • Copyright and licenses
  • Ethical issues in publishing (e.g. predatory publishing, authorship disputes, plagiarism)
  • Artificial Intelligence and scholarly publishing


Further Information

Participants can draft a cover letter for their next article. Therefore, before the workshop participants are asked to prepare the (preliminary) title of their next article.

If there are free spots, we also allow postdocs to participate.

 

For workshops held online, participation is allowed under the following conditions: a working camera that is turned on and a microphone to allow active participation in discussions and group work. Headphones must also be used to protect other participants from office eavesdroppers. In this context, we would also like to refer to the rules for digital courses at Freie Universität Berlin (Code of Conduct).
