The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.
Participation
Doctoral researchers (all disciplines) and postdocs of the Berlin University Alliance.
Before booking a workshop, please make sure that you can attend for the entire duration. Please check our terms and conditions.
Objectives and Content
In this workshop, we’ll learn how to build a profile that showcases what you’re great at, and practice talking about your skills and strengths.
We’ll also learn how to translate those skills to jobs outside of academia.
• What can I do? What are my skills and strengths? How can I find the “red thread”
or pattern that connects my prior experiences (and why does this matter)?
• How can I find out how I compare to others in my field? What tools exist to help
me determine what I need to work on, and what can I do to quickly add to my CV?
• How can I tell my career story in a way that is compelling and attractive to
employers outside of academia? What differences are there between self-marketing
in Germany and self-marketing abroad?
