The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.

Participation

Doctoral researchers (all disciplines) of the Berlin University Alliance.

Before booking a workshop, please make sure that you can attend for the entire duration. Please check our terms and conditions.

Objectives

It is often not enough simply to do a good job. In an increasingly confusing world, you only get important information, cooperation possibilities and job offers if people know you. That doesn't mean you have to bend over backwards, but that you should somehow spread the word about yourself and your expertise. This ranges from everyday behavior in the workplace to forms of self-advertising online and offline to the design of formalities such as the CV. Therefore, this workshop is intended to teach the basics of self-marketing and give participants the chance to develop their own strategies and priorities.

Content

  • Why self-marketing is essential – and how to get to grips with it?
  • What do I want to stand for? My strengths and goals?
  • How to be visible in the office, at conferences and online?
  • Networking, clear communication and elevator pitches
