WRITING WEEK II - online

The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.

 

Participation

Doctoral researchers (all disciplines) of the Berlin University Alliance.

Objectives

Book an entire week to learn about self management for the scientific writing process, discuss about procrastination and just write – alone and/ or in tandems! Use the opportunity to establish writing groups.

Content

In a series of short workshops, we will focus on different aspects of academic writing: the process of defining and scoping the topic, the management of the writing process (time management, writer’s block, procrastination etc.), the use of creative writing techniques, the construction of the introduction and the conclusion, and challenges in collaborative writing. In addition, you will have time to work on your individual writing project (e.g. your thesis or a journal article). There will be time slots for individual counselling. And you will have the chance to try different forms of writing in tandem.

For workshops held online, participation is allowed under the following conditions: a working camera that is turned on and a microphone to allow active participation in discussions and group work. Headphones must also be used to protect other participants from office eavesdroppers.
