The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.

Participation

Please note that all those interested in workshops in the area of Research Integrity / Good Scientific Practice will first be placed on a waiting list. We will then inform you promptly whether workshop places are available.

Before booking a workshop, please make sure that you can attend for the entire duration. Please check our terms and conditions.

Objectives

Participants will learn about the role of Open Access in the current scholarly publishing landscape and learn more about conditions and funding opportunities for Open Access.

Content

Open Access means legally, technically, and financially free access to research publications, which is provided, for example, by open-access journals or publishing on institutional repositories. As part of its commitment to Open Access to research information, Freie Universität Berlin encourages all university members to publish the results of their research digitally in accordance with the Open Access principle without access restrictions. In this online seminar, the Open Access experts of Freie Universität explain the most important aspects and answer your questions about the topic.

  • What does Open Access mean and what role does Open Access play during the PhD?
  • What guidelines on Open Access exist at the FU, statewide, nationally, and from important (international) funding organizations?
  • What services are available to support funding for Open Access?
  • What other services are available to support Open Access?
