KICK-OFF YOUR DOCTORATE - Berlin University Alliance - Online Retreat

The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.

Participation

Doctoral researchers (all disciplines) of the Berlin University Alliance in the first six months of their doctoral studies.

Objectives

Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität and Charité - Universitätsmedizin are pursuing the goal of improving the conditions of young researchers in the doctoral phase within the framework of the Berlin University Alliance.

It is a long way from the decision to do a doctorate to the moment when the doctoral certificate is handed over. Exchanging ideas and networking with peers is very valuable for starting a doctorate.

The focus of this kick-off event is to help early career researchers get started and to introduce them to contact persons at the four institutions in addition to helpful information on the content. Accompanied by trainers, a selection of important tools will be tested in small exercises and opportunities will be shown to deepen these across institutions. Short presentations, group coaching sessions, joint active lunch breaks and a networking evening with the international group will round off the event.

Please note

For this virtual event, we use the Lounjee conference software, which allows networking with peers, learning about the entire program, and dialing into the events. The lunch breaks and networking evening will be held in Gather.town with the second group.  You will receive the log-in approximately three weeks before the event.
