The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.

Participation

Advanced doctoral researchers and postdocs (all disciplines) of the Berlin University Alliance.

Before booking a workshop, please make sure that you can attend for the entire duration. Please check our terms and conditions.

Objectives

To provide you with a complete letter of application and a CV in English.

Content

  • Identifying your real strengths – what do you think your strengths are? What do other people think your strengths are – are these the same?
  • Considering the opportunities you have in terms of job and research positions. How much competition will you face if you apply for an advertised job? What about on spec applications? How many jobs are never advertised?
  • Writing a good cover letter. Which font should you use? Why? What about spacing? How important are the start and the end of the letter?
  • Optimizing your CV in English. What are the key differences between an English and a German CV? What is not allowed? Do you need a photo? Should you sign your CV?
