The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.

 

Participation

Doctoral researchers (all disciplines) of the Berlin University Alliance  and the Universität Potsdam in the early stages of their doctoral studies.

Objectives

What is good scientific practice? The introductory course will cover basic elements of good scientific practice and research integrity and help participants avoid questionable practices and misconduct.

Content

The workshop is based on the curriculum for Good Scientific Practice of the German Research Foundation and the respective statute of Freie Universität Berlin. It includes:

  • Basic definitions and regulations regarding good scientific practice
  • Data management, documentation and storage / transfer
  • Authorship and publications
  • Supervision agreements
  • Handling misconduct (with an Ombudsperson from Freie Universität Berlin)

 

Case studies will be analyzed and discussed and tasks assigned for group work. Participants will receive comprehensve information after the workshop.

 

This workshop comprises 12 work units.
