The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.

Advanced doctoral researchers and postdocs of the Berlin University Alliance in the Natural and Life Sciences.

Objectives

Have you enjoyed research and teaching in the past years, but think it is time to change? Maybe you are not sure whether to stay in academia or not, but would like to learn more about other possibilities before making a decision? In this course, which has been specifically developed for doctoral candidates and postdocs in the natural sciences, we will not only broaden your view about everything you can do with your qualification, but also give you practical tips on how to reach your personal goals.

Special emphasis can be given to topics related to reconciliation of family and career as well as gender-specific communication and gender-specific challenges in the job. 

 

Methods

Interactive discussions, case studies, experience-oriented game-like activities, practically oriented activities and scenarios, short presentation phases, development of concepts in plenary, individual or small group work.
