The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is an alliance of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Together, they are pursuing the goal of creating and shaping an integrated research space in Berlin. This alliance aims to establish Berlin as a leading international science location. All workshops and events offered by the Graduate Studies Support Program are funded by the BUA and therefore free of charge.
Participation
Doctoral researchers (all disciplines) of the Berlin University Alliance.
Before booking a workshop, please make sure that you can attend for the entire duration. Please check our terms and conditions.
Content
The workshop covers the principles and rules of good scientific practice, the most important forms of scientific misconduct, the relevant regulations and support and complaint structures. The participants gain knowledge of the principles and rules of research misconduct, and the ability to apply this knowledge in one's own research context, i.e. awareness of conflicts related to research misconduct and normative aspects of research.
Objectives
This introductory workshop covers the basic elements of good scientific practice and research ethics to help participants avoid questionable practices and misconduct. For that, they learn about the basics of good scientific practice and apply them to their own cases. Finally, the participants work on strategies to deal with their discussed cases.

Further Information
Postdocs are welcome to participate if spots are available.
Doctoral programs calculate credits that you can earn by participating in our workshops based on the transcripts (8 work units result in 0.5 credit points). In the case of mini workshops (less than 8 hours), these are calculated on a pro rata basis using the work units. Be aware: You must have attended enough short workshops to have accumulated enough “work units” to be eligible for credit transfer (i.e. 2x 3h workshop = 8 work units = 0.5 credits)
